Aaron Scott is a first call musician in the Columbus area. Son of acclaimed pianist Bob Allen, Aaron got his start in music at age five playing piano. He continued playing classical piano into college, but it was playing percussion that became his passion. Playing shows and in bands during high school, Aaron went on to study music at North Texas State on scholarship and later graduated from Capital University Conservatory of Music.
In addition to performing, Aaron has been teaching percussion for over 30 years. He has taught at Columbus Pro Percussion, Capital University, Denison University, Dublin Schools, Newark Schools, Music Royale and Vaughan Music Studios doing group and individual lessons. Aaron currently offers drum and piano private lessons in his studio in Hilliard. Aaron is also an instructor at the McConnell Arts Center in Worthington teaching class percussion, private lessons and Rock Band classes. Most recently, Aaron has joined the faculty at the Hilliard Community Music School. Aaron’s varied background and knowledge of many musical styles affords him the ability to coach kids and adults in all styles of music, beginner to advanced.
Aaron has been a successful player as well as contractor for clubs, restaurants and private companies. Aaron has been contracting music at Hyde Park Grille in Upper Arlington since its opening in 1989. He has contracted for Nationwide Insurance, Red, White & Boom, Huntington Banks, BancOne, Eddie Bauer, Columbus Museum of Art, Muirfield Golf Tournament, Columbus Cultural Arts Center, Strategy Group and Mettler Toledo to name a few.
Aaron has played with Mark Flugge, Bobby Floyd, Tony Monaco, Hank Marr, Vince Andrews, Joe Hunter, Kim Pensyl, Bob Allen, Pharez Whitted, Rob Parton, Jim Powell, Eric Gale, Derek DiCenzo, Jeff Ciampa, Gene Walker, Roger Hines, Shelly Berg, Lynn Seton, Lou Fischer, Dave Powers and on NPR's Michael Feldman "What'd Ya Know" radio program among others.
He can currently be heard with his jazz group TRio featuring Dave DeWitt and Derek DiCenzo, the popular R&B band Phil Clark & THE SOUL, his new quintet From The Five Jazztet, The Caribbean Jazz Quartet and The Columbus Jazz Quartet.
Aaron is also active in schools with the Jump for Jazz program that performs interactive music education programs throughout Central Ohio for elementary aged students.
Aaron can also be heard playing on Donatos Pizza television commercials.
